  • AGSC’s ATL is Global Symposium to Highlight Global Education and Research

    The Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC), a joint project of Georgia State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, will present the fourth Atlanta Global Studies Symposium April 13-15.

    The free event — ATL is Global — will feature sessions focused on global education, language learning, sustainable development, community engagement and a daylong workshop for pre-K-12 teachers. In-person sessions will be held at the Georgia State College of Law, with some hybrid sessions offered.

    Since its creation in 2018, the Atlanta Global Studies Center has worked to leverage Atlanta’s growing global connections and resources to achieve its mission of building international awareness, global competence and language capacity in the region and beyond.

    The ATL is Global event welcomes partners, faculty, students, community organizers and the public to connect, discover the impact of collaboration and celebrate the diversity and global vitality of the region.

    The symposium’s sponsors include the Emory University Office of Global Strategy and Initiatives, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Global Atlanta.

  • AGREC Partner KSU Addresses Global Issues at the Local Level through Community Projects

    Faculty and staff from Kennesaw State University will lead six collaborative projects during the 2022-23 academic year as part of the Atlanta Global Research & Education Collaborative (AGREC) program.

    Kennesaw State is one of six affiliated universities with AGREC, including Emory University, Spelman College, Agnes Scott College, and the Atlanta Global Studies Center, a consortium of Georgia Tech and Georgia State University. The initiative has awarded $105,000 this year to support 11 selected projects.

  • Oglethorpe University Hosts Conference Focused on Supporting Undocumented Students

    Last month, Oglethorpe University hosted the inaugural “Coalition and Community Building: Supporting Georgia’s Undocumented Students in Higher Education.” The conference was sponsored by the Atlanta Global Research and Education Collaborative (AGREC) and gathered community leaders, higher education faculty and staff, immigration lawyers, high school counselors, local nonprofits, faith institutions and immigrant advocacy organizations to find new ways to support a group of students that Georgia critically underserves, and frankly, actively oppresses.
